Slovenian surf Gods The Bitch Boys are back and they just seem to be getting better and better laying down an outrageously solid traditional surf rock groove that far outclasses and out rocks any American surf band working right now. Hell, these f’ers probably rank up there as one of the best surf revival bands ever and Ride The First Wave is a phenomenal album. It instantly had me and my girlfriend doing the twist 5 seconds into the first track (“Ghost Hop”) and the frigging thing doesn’t let up until the very end of 30 gawddamn tracks!!! What is particularly admirable about this disc is that the material consists of specially selected covers of rare surf tracks by extraordinarily obscure bands from “the first wave” of surf music. The Boys treat the tunes with a high level of respect but still cut loose with all the twang and bang I’ve come to love about these fellows. Surf maniacs…do the right thing and hook up with The Bitches today!
