BitchBoys-
Behind the Hound Dog Walls
CD Provided by Ikebana Records
Slovenian surf gurus THE BITCH BOYS bitching full-length follow up to ...In
Heat is a collection of slick and savvy surf rock recorded live and direct.
Consisting of covers, reinterpretations and inspirations, Behind The Hound
Dog Walls coveys a sense of unrestrained fun all filtered through a
skillfully controlled array of twangy guitars and reliable surf beat. A lot
of the song choices are typical of the genre, like the BATMAN and JAMES BOND
themes, as well as classics like “Wipe Out” and “Miserlou.” Even these familiar
songs have a bitchy ring to them. But the best tunes are the more exotic selections
like “Devojko Mala,” crazy numbers like “Bitchoola” (Inspired by the film ROCKULA!),
and a fun collage of guitar licks called “Walk Don’t Run Mr. Eminem” that puts
a unique spin on the surf standard. The confines of the surf music style can
be restrictive to some bands, but THE BITCH BOYS imagination seems to thrive
within a fairly traditional sound. It’s another cool record by a great new band.
The only drawback is that these guys live a long way away from my hometown.
Hey Bitches, come to America soon!
