The Bitches are back and all I gotta say is, “What the f#*k?” Prolific Slovenian surf-rockers THE BITCH BOYS have released several highly recommended kick ass insto records over the past five years. However, always the unpredictable bastards, Kransjska Gruda Vel’ka Mooda is a collection of six a capella guitar-free vocal tunes. The tunes are all Slovenian folk songs with a bit of a “bitchy” bent (you know, a cuss word here and a bit of wackiness there) but the overall effect is under whelming. Clocking in at only 9 minutes, it comes across as a little joke that didn’t work. Fans of surf rock will surely miss the boys’ energetic twang and roaring geetars, and they’ll be scratching their pompadours puzzled about the band’s sudden (but hopefully temporary) change in style.
