Quiet Bells Of El Monte
Picks: Jingle Bells, Not So Quiet, Memories Of El Monte
"Jingle
Bells" ![]()
Rising from sleigh bells, the song begins in a silky shimmer like a silver
liquid, then with gentle drama, it moves into a hauntingly sultry surf verse.
By verse three, double picked classic surf takes over, with Santa riding' the
nose for the rest of the track. This is about the best version of "Jingle
Bells" out there. Way cool Yule!

"Not
So Quiet" ![]()
Richard Podolor's catchy "Not So Quiet" is moved from mere
brilliant to a liquid flow and shimmer. More than beautiful, it's magnetically
attractive, with a sensual glow. The bridge is stellar too, with great damped
surf against vibrato chords and a thick was of surf guitars. Magnificent!

"Memories
Of El Monte" ![]()
Frank Zappa's doo wop groove "Memories Of El Monte" works
really well as a surf instro! Lush and fluid, with a bit of narrative and a
partial verse of the original song tagged onto the end.
